UX Designer:

📍 Branchville, NJ | Short Hills, NJ | Hartford, CT | Charlotte, NC (Hybrid)

Optomi, in partnership with a leading insurance and financial services organization, is seeking a UX Designer to join their growing IT team. This is a unique opportunity to be the first UX hire embedded directly within product and engineering teams, serving as the voice of the customer and shaping user experiences across digital products and capabilities.

What You’ll Do:

  • Act as the embedded UX Designer within IT, collaborating closely with product owners, business stakeholders, and engineers.
  • Serve as the voice of the user, ensuring customer needs and expectations are represented in system design and product development.
  • Conduct user research, usability testing, and gather insights to inform design decisions.
  • Design wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI mockups using Figma.
  • Translate business needs and technical requirements into intuitive, user-friendly digital experiences.
  • Partner with vendors on larger UX initiatives, while independently owning smaller-scale UX enhancements and improvements.
  • Provide UX best practices and templates to support reporting, design documentation, and process improvements.

Must-Have Skills:

  • 3–5+ years of professional UX design experience.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing UX research and design execution (wireframes, prototypes, usability testing).
  • Proficiency in Figma.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently as a team of one.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Background in i nsurance, financial services, or enterprise software/IT systems.
  • Experience balancing both research and design responsibilities.
  • Familiarity with enterprise-level product development and cross-functional teams.
