We are seeking experienced law enforcement professionals interested in part-time roles as Special Events Police Officers. Under supervision, officers protect students, faculty, staff, visitors, property, and facilities from various risks including accidents, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry. Responsibilities include enforcing laws and regulations, assisting the public, investigating incidents, patrolling campus grounds, crowd control during events, guarding property, and preparing reports. Officers may also gather evidence, make arrests, and appear in court as needed. Work involves supporting campus events with activities such as emergency response, traffic control, administering first aid, and other policing duties. All officers adhere to departmental mission, vision, values, and professional standards, including those outlined in the law enforcement accreditation program. The role is non-exempt under FLSA and eligible for overtime pay. Qualifications Current or retired peace officers from a California law enforcement agency, or Level 1 reserve officers with proof of recent employment or requalification. CalPERS retirees must meet specific requirements. Must meet current POST standards and have completed a POST-approved Field Training program at their agency. Specialized Requirements Active officers need authorization from their agency chief to work on a per diem/hourly basis for SDSU. Reserve officers must provide proof of completing the Level 1 Reserve Peace Officer POST Basic Course. Candidates should have attained permanency at their current or previous agency. Licenses and Certifications Specific licenses and certifications are required as per position standards. Compensation and Benefits The starting hourly rate is up to $75.00, based on qualifications and experience. The CSU salary range is $15.00 to $140.00 per hour.
