Definition

The Industrial Equipment Maintenance Technician is responsible to perform, schedule and oversee maintenance for Progress Unique Equipment, High Performance Drills, CNC machine tool life, Mechanical fixturing maintenance, Manual Welding systems, Hydraulic punching and bending machines. It is not anticipated that the Maintenance Tech will be able to perform all the needed maintenance to the machines he/she is responsible for. The Technician will also initiate troubleshooting equipment failures and determine the likely cause of failure. Then make appropriate decisions to return system to operational service. If repair cannot be completed in-house the appropriate vendor must be contacted and repairs scheduled as rapidly as possible to keep downtime at a minimum. In addition, be responsible to perform Facilities repairs and services to adequately maintain facilities. Responsible to create and maintain a preventative maintenance schedule over assigned machines, keep records on maintenance jobs and tasks performed using eMaint (CMMS) program. Train and monitor production employees. Train other maintenance personnel in job specific tasks (Cross Training)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities for Industrial Equipment Maintenance Technician

• While working in a Team environment, the individual must Coordinate, Maintain and Manage all assigned machines and equipment throughout Progress Mfg. facilities.
  • Communication, cooperation and planning are critical to accomplishing job duties.
  • Be Goal oriented and seek continual improvement in assigned areas and responsibilities.

• Production Equipment
  • Technician is responsible to coordinate repairs and services with Production Supervisor and other maintenance personnel on all assigned machines and equipment.
  • Complete Equipment Preventive Services correctly.
  • Maintain and update Downtime Records.
  • Monitor equipment for indications of failures.
  • Maintain records that capture maintenance time and expenses.
  • Assists manager with budget preparation and management.
  • Reactive maintenance (Repairing down machines).
  • Perform tool life on CNC machines daily
  • Maintain punch and die fixtures on hydraulic press.

• Preventative Maintenance
  • Use machine counters to assist with determining correct maintenance interval.
  • All records are maintained using a Computer Managed Maintenance System (CMMS). All work orders and preventative duties are completed as soon as practical.
  • Maintaining and updating data entry and tracking is mandatory.
  • Adjust or correct service interval as required.
  • Ensure required consumables are on hand and inventory is correctly managed.

• Facilities Maintenance
  • Have the skills and ability to fabricate items to support facility.
  • Maintain, repair and upgrade compressed air system.
  • Electrical (Lights, Plugs etc.)
  • Plumbing (Sinks, Toilets, Water lines to machines, etc.)
  • Maintain and repair office areas and office furniture.
  • Physical Structure (Doors, Windows etc.)
  • Assist with swamp coolers and forced air heaters.
• Maintain or increase safety at the workplace in all functions.
  • Following Lock out Tag Out procedures
  • Inspections of machines and vehicles.
  • Buildings and machinery should be examined for needed improvements.

• Maintain a clean and organized tool room and maintenance supply areas.
  • Ensure each work area is properly cleaned and items put away.
  • Follow and sustain company 5S program.
  • Complete audits and facility inspections

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Completion of a 2 year post high school degree in maintenance technology or equivalent training.

Experience: At least 2 years of experience as a Maintenance Technician, Electrician or Industrial Equipment Machines maintenance and repair. Must be mechanically inclined and detail oriented.

• Skills:

• Must be able to communicate in English
• Must have a working knowledge of Office applications
• Must have a working knowledge of (CMMS) Computer Managed Maintenance Systems
• Practical knowledge of high-pressure hydraulic machinery
• Practical knowledge of high-performance metal cutting saws and drill.
• Practical knowledge of 3 phase electrical motors and control systems.
• Understand pneumatic switches and control system.
• Setting up and calibrating machines, jigs fixtures and tooling for a variety of jobs
• Must be able to understand blueprints and other comprehensive mechanical drawings.
• Practical knowledge of production processes particularly automated and computer-controlled manufacturing machinery.
• Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, divide and convert fractions
• Must have practical knowledge and experience of industrial electricity.
• Must have practical knowledge of basic mechanical systems.
• Must have practical knowledge of basic plumbing systems.
• Must have practical knowledge of compressed air systems.
• Problem solving / Trouble shooting skills in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
• Creative, self-motivated, and team oriented with the ability to take a project from conception to completion.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Expected to participate in a variety of goals & projects to achieve continual improvement.
• Communicate status of special projects and normal duties effectively with supervisor.
• Must be able to Train and evaluate production personnel including supervisors using EOP/POP.
• Ensure required consumables are on hand and inventory is correctly managed.
• Must be able to become certified to safely use the forklift, & pickup trucks.
• Spend necessary time communicating & attending meetings.
• May be assigned to be a member of safety committee.
• Machines and Equipment Commonly Used:
  • Welders and cutting torch
  • Digital and analog testing equipment.
  • Drill Presses, Saws, Hydraulic and Pneumatic production equipment.
  • Automated and manually control machinery.
  • Hand operated power tools
  • Common mechanical hand tools
• Review and revise SOP as needed.
• Perform 5S Audits.
• Performs other duties as necessary.
