Job Description

Associate Director, Global Change Program Georgia Institute of Technology

Multidisciplinary Faculty Position
Associate Director Global Change Program

The Georgia Institute of Technology invites applications for a multidisciplinary non-tenure-track faculty position to serve as Associate Director of the Global Change Program.

The Global Change Program was established in 2018 to build Georgia Techs capacity to address global challenges, including climate change, through innovative education and research initiatives. Reporting to the Director of the Global Change Program, the Associate Director provides executive-level support for the research and academic missions of the Program. Working collaboratively with the Director and the rest of the Global Change Program staff, as well as faculty, students, and staff from across Georgia Tech, the Associate Director will help shape the strategic direction of the Global Change Program. The Associate Director will also interface with external partners across Atlanta and beyond. Key assets for the position are strong interpersonal skills, willingness to facilitate the work of collaborators and like-minded organizations, and readiness to take initiative when required. This Academic Professional position is a full-time, benefits-eligible position.

Georgia Tech is a top-ranked public research university situated in the heart of Atlanta, a diverse and vibrant city with great economic and cultural strengths. The Institute is a member of the University System of Georgia, the Georgia Research Alliance, and the Association of American Universities. Georgia Tech prides itself on its technology resources, collaborations, high-quality student body, and its commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Applicants to the position of Associate Director of Global Change should submit a letter of application, curriculum vitae, a statement of research interests, a statement of teaching interests (including advising/mentoring philosophy), a diversity statement, and the names and contact information for at least three references. Application materials should be submitted as .PDF files to globalchange@gatech.edu. Requests for information may be directed to Kim Cobb (Director of the Global Change Program), at kcobb@gatech.edu. Applications will be considered beginning December 1, 2019, but the search will continue until January 22, 2020.

Preferred qualifications include a PhD or other terminal degree in discipline relevant to the work of the Global Change Program, 2-4yrs of related work experience, experience with fund-raising (federal grants, foundations, etc), and experience working with diverse stakeholders. An earned doctorate is required by the start of the appointment, and a background check must be completed prior to employment.

Georgia Tech is an equal education/employment opportunity institution dedicated to building a diverse community. We strongly encourage applications from women, underrepresented minorities, individuals with disabilities, and veterans. Georgia Tech has policies to promote a healthy work-life balance and is aware that attracting faculty may require meeting the needs of two careers.

Compensation commensurate with experience.
